Editorial Services & Rates

• Light Copyediting:
  • Fee: $15/hour
  • Services: Checking for proper grammar, spelling, usage, and punctuation. Also checking for consistency with style (i.e. how certain words are spelled, fonts are used, etc.).
  • Special Note: This service is best suited for those who are confident in their writing abilities, but require assistance in ensuring that their document(s) is (are) error-free.
• Medium Copyediting:
  • Fee: $20/hour
  • Services: All tasks for light copyediting will be performed in addition to checking for continuity of plot and subject matter. Consistency in tone will also be enforced. Rewriting at this level is minimal, and may simply include changing the passive voice to the active voice so that the text is more dynamic. Confusing and incorrect passages will be flagged for revision by the author.
• Heavy Copyediting:
  • Fee: $25/hour
  • Services: This service can also be referred to as developmental editing, as it involves a comprehensive evaluation of the text. All tasks for medium copyediting will be performed, but rewriting at this level is more intense. Paragraphs and sentences will be rearranged to ensure for smooth transitions between concepts and logical flow of text. In addition, areas that are wordy or extraneous will be deleted to keep the document concise.
  Please note: All levels of editing seek to maintain the original ideas, style, and voice of the author. In no way is editing intended to overwrite or detract from said qualities.
• Text Creation:
  • Fee: 10¢/word
  • Services: Will draft business letters, bios, resumes, and ad copy (i.e. text used in brochures and other promotional materials). Simply provide the necessary data, and the rest will be done for you! (This is for small projects only. I do not provide ghostwriting services, so no term papers, thesis papers, or book requests please).

Payment Policy: Clients will be charged for real time spent. You can request a flat rate if hourly is not desirable. Estimates will be based on the level of editing chosen, requested turnaround time, and length/size of project. Hours will be invoiced after services rendered and payment is due upon receipt. A deposit equal to half the estimated price is required for new clients before commencement of services. Checks, money orders, and Paypal are acceptable forms of payment.
